Would you be interested in serving on the Indian Education Committee (IEC)? There will be a reservation wide Indian Education Committee Training Friday March 21, 10am-12pm at the Arlee School, 3-6 Building Multipurpose Room. Indian Education Committee (IEC) consists of parents / guardians who have JOM eligible children. IEC determines how the JOM monies are spent, based on the priorities of the annual Needs Assessment Parent Survey. All schools receiving JOM funds are required to have an IEC consisting on parents and guardians of JOM eligible students. This committee holds the voting rights on how JOM monies are spent.
JOM Eligibility: JOM eligible students are age 3 through grade 12 and are either (1) an enrolled member of a federally recognized tribe, or (2) have a combined Indian blood degree from federally recognized tribes of 1/4 or more, or (3) are a descendent of at least one parent or grandparent (living or deceased) who is a member of a federally recognized tribe.
JOM Program: CSKT Early Childhood Services receives federal Johnson O’Malley (JOM) funds. JOM funding provides supplemental funds designed to address the unique and specialized educational needs of Indian students enrolled in public schools or non-sectarian schools.
